Clean energy bodies to share research
The Australian Clean Energy Council (CEC) and the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) have announced a new partnership that will see the two bodies share research and information on clean energy.
According to the CEC’s Chief Executive, David Green, the partnership will aim to share expertise and information on policy, finance and other market drivers in the clean energy sector.
“This new partnership between Australia and the US demonstrates both the global significance of the Australian renewable energy industry and the strategic importance of the relationship between the two countries,” Mr Green said.
“This agreement to collaborate and share information with our US colleagues is evidence of the CEC’s national leadership in clean energy policy development, and we look forward to the opportunities this partnership will unlock for the clean energy industry in both countries,” he said.
Australia’s investment in renewable energy grew 40 per cent in 2012 to $6.2 billion. In the US, the capacity to generate renewable energy nearly doubled to 85.7 gigawatts over the four years to 2012.
“Considering the growing success of clean energy in both the United States and Australia, our nations will greatly benefit from a strong collaboration on how to improve the policies and finance mechanisms that bring sustainable energy technologies to scale,” said Admiral Dennis McGinn, ACORE President and Chief Executive.
