ENERGEX has completed its $17 million multi-stage upgrades that will aim to greatly enhance power supplies along the Brisbane River, covering the Australia TradeCoast region.

Queensland Minister for Energy and Water Utilities said the upgrades would provide additional energy and improved reliability to support the growth of the commercial business in the Australia TradeCoast region, as well as to the surrounding residential communities.

“Among the two projects is an $8 million upgrade to ENERGEX’s electricity substation at Hamilton which has doubled the available power capacity for local homes and businesses,” Mr Robertson said.

Mr Robertson said ENERGEX has also recently completed a multi-stage $9 million upgrade to a major electricity substation at Lytton which has significantly added to the available power capacity and enhanced electricity reliability for the area.

ENERGEX Metro North Asset Manager Tim Hart said Hamilton substation upgrade development includes the replacement of two 12.5MV.A transformers with two 25MV.A transformers as well as 11,000 volt switchgear inside the substation.

Mr Hart said the substation upgrades are part of a record $5 billion-plus, five-year capital expenditure program being undertaken by ENERGEX.
