The Federal and South Australian Governments are seeking public feedback on three new mining and infrastructure plans that will aim to guide the rollout of major transport, logistics, energy and water projects in regional South Australian.

Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Anthony Albanese, said that the plans will be developed using $1.5 billion in federal funding under the Regional Infrastructure Fund.

“The reports provide not only context but detail regarding possible infrastructure solutions for South Australia as more mining projects make the step from development to production.”

State Minister Infrastructure, Tom Koutsantonis, said that the objective of the plans is to identify assess ways of addressing infrastructure capacity constraints arising from the development of our resources, while minimising adverse environmental impacts

“The final plans to be published by mid-2013 will provide a comprehensive long-term guide to the potential benefits and implications from supporting development of the resources sector,” Mr Koutsantonis said.

The consultation process will cover the development of regional plans covering Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula and Mid Norther/Braemar and Far North regions in South Australia.
