New single compliance scheme begins
The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has introduced a new single regulatory compliance mark (RCM), aimed at illustrating a device’s compliance with telecommunications, radiocommunications and electromagnetic compatibility standards.
The ACMA has claimed that the introduction of a single compliance mark forms part of a broader strategic program aimed at ensuring that regulation evolves with the changing ICT environment.
According to the Authority, the introduction of the new arrangements will lessen the administrative burden faced by suppliers by reducing the complexity of the compliance marking arrangements.
The formation of the single mark comes after two rounds of public and industry dialogue.
Under the new arrangements, all suppliers using the RCM will be required to register on a new online database by 1 March 2016. Members of the public, retailers and other suppliers will be able to search the database.
