Turnbull pushes Hunter works
Former prime minister Malcolm Turnbull is advocating for the development of two pumped hydro energy projects in the Upper Hunter Valley.
Malcolm and his wife Lucy’s company, Upper Hunter Hydro (UHH), has pinpointed Glenbawn Dam and Glennies Creek Dam as potential sites for these initiatives, which will allegedly deliver a total of 1,000 megawatts of power.
The Turnbulls are reportedly working with Water NSW to advance their proposal.
Turnbull, the former prime minister, says pumped hydro is needed in the transition from coal.
Andrew George, Water NSW chief executive, says the proposals could be a key step towards sustainable energy solutions.
As UHH moves forward with feasibility studies and seeks necessary approvals, the project promises to generate substantial employment opportunities, estimating 1,400 construction jobs and 80 ongoing operations roles.
