Lead the change, from the Middle
It’s an exciting time for the Energy Industry, and with significant shifts in the energy markets, our business needs to continue to evolve and adapt. Shell Energy is making targeted improvements to ensure that we continue to deliver value for our Energy Retail customers. A key enabler for this is our Middle Office team, who support the Australian Retail businesses to understand and assess their risk management and commercial metrics to facilitate robust decision making.
The Role
The Middle Office Analyst is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a transformative team, who will drive and deliver sustainable improvements within Shell Energy. You’ll have the opportunity to develop new models and ways of working, that has a direct impact on the value to our customers. The Middle Office team sit at the core of the business, and you’ll develop your knowledge across the full value chain, working collaboratively with our Commercial, Finance and Trading teams. You’ll be part of a team passionate about problem solving who strive for the best outcomes for our customers, and who learn from each other and industry experts, as we continue to strengthen the Middle Office Centre of Excellence.
Based in Melbourne or Brisbane, the Middle Office Team is primarily responsible for modelling and data analytics across the areas of Domestic Customer Demand Forecasting, Risk Management, and advanced analytics.
What you’ll bring
Here’s what you’ll need to thrive in this role:
- Mathematical/Stochastic Modelling experience, and a desire to become an expert in Energy Risk Management;
- Advanced analytical skills with the ability to communicate and present findings at all levels including a non-analytical audience;
- Tenacity to challenge the status quo, be passionate about solving problems, and strive for the best outcome;
- Self-motivated and driven, proactive, and able to handle large volumes of data and complex problems;
- Ability to learn, work and develop at a fast pace and manage multiple projects simultaneously;
- Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy; and
- Progamming capability e.g. VBA, Python, R.
