Nuclear Security Analyst, APS6, Australian Radioactive Waste Agency

Progress your career | Flexible working | Improve our nuclear security culture

The Nuclear Security Analyst provides professional expertise into methodologies for implementing security by design into a radioactive waste management facility and associated systems, including logistics and transport of hazardous material. The incumbent will collaborate with a team of radiation, radioactive waste, and nuclear specialists to integrate safety, security, and regulatory safeguards into activities for waste management pathways. The Nuclear Security Analyst supports the development of security strategies and security by design for radioactive waste disposal pathways.

What we are looking for

  • Proven experience in undertaking security assessments and making risk-informed decisions.
  • Relevant experience in a high-risk industry or operating environment.
  • Maintain knowledge of regulatory systems and practices relevant to nuclear security, including their applicability and limitations, and provide support to staff to do likewise.

We are seeking an enthusiastic team member to join the Nuclear Safety and Security Team in a role that requires technical security analysis. Experience in the nuclear industry is desired, but not essential. The ideal candidate will bring transferrable skills and have a growth mindset to thrive in an uncertain environment. As a relatively new agency, ARWA continues to develop its foundations and is seeking people willing to embark on an exciting journey of continued change and growth. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a multi-discipline team and bring transferrable security-related skills from another high-risk industry (for example, mining or explosives). This may be a highly experienced security practitioner looking to move into a specialised industry, or an early career practitioner who is willing to develop and grow with the Agency. ~ Vicky.
